шерил кроу и поваротти

The gracious singer reveled in the classical duets such as the Mozart with Sheryl Crow, or “Panis Angelicus” with Sting, but he was adaptable enough to sing pop songs too, joining Elton John, Eric Clapton and Celine Dion on some of their hits. Highlights here include Pavarotti’s solo in the U2 song “Miss Sarajevo,” which was written specifically for him. There’s also an exhilarating duet with another late, great star, on “It’s a Man’s World.” Here are two radically different voices that somehow, magically, work together.

These duets find Pavarotti trading phrases with singers like Carey, Sting, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion and Jon Bon Jovi - his frequent smiles testifying to the sheer pleasure he experienced being on stage.

The late, great singer annually hosted the “Pavarotti and Friends” charity concerts to raise money for children in war-torn parts of the world. He handpicked the biggest stars to join him on stage in his home town of Modena, Italy. Legend has it, Mr. Pavarotti personally telephoned his guests to invite them, an offer no sensible pop star could refuse. Two years after Pavarotti’s death, this concert series reminds us that Pavarotti’s megawatt star power could outshine even the biggest stars in the world. The singer, who set the standard for the operatic tenor in the 20th century, had no problem pushing his presence well beyond the opera house, crossing over into realm of popular music. Purists may have decried this, but Pavarotti helped break down the notion that opera was just an elitist art form.

What is Sheryl Crow doing singing ’s “La Ci Darem La Mano” from Don Giovanni? And in Italian, no less. And on the same stage where Mariah Carey performs “Hero”? Well, Crow and Carey are just two of the global pop stars featured in this presentation of Pavarotti - The Duets: The Best of Pavarotti and Friends. Ms Crow may not be an opera diva by training but she renders Mozart’s famous music with seductive musical grace. That’s probably not easy when your singing partner is Luciano Pavarotti - the superstar tenor once nicknamed the “King of the High C’s.”
